Magellan RoadMate 800 Recovery Utility

This utility restores a Magellan RoadMate 800 device that is exhibiting the Blue Screen lockup issue. ONLY download this patch if you have been experiencing this issue.
That means that the device boots to the warning screen, but when the user clicks
the OK button on the warning screen, the Magellan logo appears on a blue screen,
and the device is locked up.
Equipment needed to run the Utility:
- The utility script loaded on a PC with Windows 2000 or XP.
- Winzip Utility
- Magellan RoadMate 800.
- USB cable that came with the Magellan RoadMate 800.
- AC/DC adaptor that came with the Magellan RoadMate 800.
Steps to follow:
- Download the utility to your computer desktop.
- Use WinZip to unzip the utility file.
- Open the folder that contains the utility script and support files.
- Turn off the Magellan RoadMate 800 via the 1/0 switch on the top of the unit ( Move to 0 ).
- Connect the AC/DC adaptor to the Magellan RoadMate 800, and plug it into a AC wall outlet.
- Plug the USB cable into the PC USB socket, but not into the Magellan RoadMate 800 just yet.
- Turn the Magellan RoadMate 800 back on via the 1/0 switch ( Move 0 to 1 ) and wait for the "Warning" screen with the "OK" button to appear. Do not press the "OK" button.
- If you have ActiveSync running on your PC, turn it off.
- Connect the USB cable that is attached to the PC, to the Magellan RoadMate 800.
- You will see a "USB Cable Connected" message on the LCD screen of the Magellan RoadMate 800 .
- Your PC should automatically detect the USB device.
- If your PC starts the Windows "New Hardware Found" utility script, then you first need to load the device driver files. Follow the automatic search selections, and the device files will be loaded from the same folder as the utility script is in. Once finished exit the "New Hardware Found" utility from Windows.
- Double click on the "Blue_screen_lockup_fix.exe" program icon in the folder and follow the on-screen instructions.
- When the update completes, turn the Magellan RoadMate 800 off via the 1/0 switch on the top of the unit ( Move to 0 ).
- Disconnect the USB cable from the Magellan RoadMate 800.
- Turn the Magellan RoadMate 800 back on via the 1/0 switch on the top of the unit ( Move to 1 ), and verify that the Navigator application starts after the user clicks the "Ok" button on the "Warning screen". You should see the Navigator main menu displayed.
- Your Magellan RoadMate 800 can now be used normally.
