Maestro 4050 Voice Command & Control
The Magellan Maestro includes voice recognition software for many of the most commonly used commands. This provides hands-free operation of the Magellan Maestro for many of the functions you use on a daily basis.

Activating Voice Recognition
To place the Magellan Maestro in a ‘listening' mode for voice commands, you need to first ‘wake up' the voice recognition feature by saying the ‘wake-up word' “Magellan". You can ‘wake-up' the Maestro when viewing the Map Screen or one of the Menu Screens.
If you have set the Magellan Maestro to either French or Spanish, say “Magellan" using the correct pronunciation for the language selected. Using the English pronunciation of “Magellan" with French or Spanish selected will not wake-up the software.
Upon waking up the voice recognition software, the Say a Command screen is displayed. This is a list of available commands that can be used for reference.
Saying “Previous" or “Next" scrolls the list up and down to see available ‘Commands', but you don't need to see the ‘Command' on the screen to say it.
After saying the command, additional screens may be displayed that also can be voice controlled.
Say ‘Cancel' at any time to exit Voice Command & Control.

- Say “Magellan".
- Say “Nearest Restaurant".

- Say “Chinese Food".

Say the number of the restaurant from the list to select it. Say “Previous" or “Next" to scroll up and down the list of items.
After you say the number of the restaurant you want to go to and the Magellan Maestro will automatically begin calculating the fastest route to your chosen restaurant.
A few tips to note when using Voice Command & Control:
- If the navigation unit is not responding to your commands, first try relocating the Maestro so the microphone is closer and/or pointed towards you.
- Avoid speaking too soon. The most common voice control problem people have is answering a question before the navigator has stopped speaking.
- Say ‘Commands' in a normal, natural voice, shouting degrades speech recognition performance.
- Wind noise and talk radio stations can “confuse" the voice recognition software, so turn down the radio and roll up your windows.
- Avoid speaking a command while others are talking.
- If your Maestro is calculating a route or performing another function (i.e. displaying Split Screen or Bluetooth), Voice Command & Control is not available.
