SayWhere™ - Text to Speech

  • In addition to the distance and direction of your next turn, this technology also speaks the name of the street to turn on: “'In 500 meters turn right, Milford".

    1. Press the Option button
    2. Select Configuration

SmartDetour™


  • Automatically prompts you to route around slowed or stopped freeway/motorway traffic. You can personalize the settings for the maximum distance you'd like to detour or turn the feature on or off. You may also choose to detour anytime you are in an active route by touching the Enter button, even on city streets, to route around road work, flooded streets or stopped traffic.

Multi-Destination Routing

  • The Trip Planner enables you to pre-program a trip with multiple destinations. Enter each address and select the order you want to take or let our Route Optimization feature find the quickest route to all of your destinations.

Automatic Night Mode

  • Display automatically switches between day and night screens for better viewing based on sunrise/sunset times wherever you are driving.

Automatic Volume Control

  • Increases the volume when you are traveling over 90 Km/h.
  • You can select the amount the volume level increases in the Options menu to suit your needs.

Beam addresses from your PDA

  • IrDA vCard transfer compatible with Pocket PC2002 & 2003 and Palm v5 and above.

Ability to add POI's

  • Magellan POI Manager PC tool allows up to 1-million additional POI's to be imported, created, and transferred to the Magellan RoadMate.
  • Each file can contain up to 10,000 POI's, distributed among up to 10 customer named categories.
  • Up to 100 files can be loaded on the Magellan RoadMate.
  • Only one file can be active at a time.
  • An alarm can be enabled for each category. The alarm will sound when the vehicle is within a user-defined distance and angle of the POI. This alarm can be configured to sound a second time, when the vehicle is closer to the POI.
  • This category name will be “spoken" by the SayWhere technology when the alert function is enabled. For example, if a custom category is named Speed Trap, the system will say “speed trap" and give a warning chime.

    • Magellan POI's (.MGLN) can be shared between customers, and posted on user groups.

Show Destination on Map

  • A button has been added to the Routing Method screen that enables the user to view the destination on the map screen prior to routing to it.

Nearest En-Route POI's

  • An en-route POI can be selected by pressing the Enter button, then selecting Points of Interest.
  • When routing to a destination, only POI's within a 5 km route corridor are offered as possible choices.

Select Restaurant by Cuisine Type

  • Restaurant category now contains a Cuisine Type subcategory so you can find the nearest Chinese or Italian restaurant, for example.

Save Current Location

  • Touch the “Save Location" button is on the Locate screen to easily add your current location to the address book.

Password Protection for Each User

  • Each user can set a password, up to 6 characters long.

Safety Lockout

  • Locks the system so that drivers cannot enter destination information or access options when vehicle speed is greater than 10 Km/h.
  • If the user has enabled this feature, and they tap the screen or press a button while the vehicle is moving, a warning message will be displayed, and the user will have the option of temporarily disabling the feature until the next power cycle.
  • The default position for this feature is OFF.

Favorites List Added to Address Book

  • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd priority options were removed, and a Favorites check box was added.
  • If an address book entry has the “favorites" box checked, this entry is added to the “Favorites" list.
