Multimedia hits the road with the new Magellan® RoadMate 800TM
Santa Clara, CA (October 04, 2005) With the new Magellan RoadMate 800, Thales sets new standards and Combines navigation and multimedia in one product. The Magellan RoadMate 800 not only guides you safely to your destination: with its integrated MP3 player and battery, the navigation system is now also an entertaining travelling companion inside and outside the car. You can also download digital photographs and view them on its colour screen. This elegantly designed little multimedia gem will be available from October 2005 for £599.95.
The 20GB hard disk stocks the detailed pre-installed maps of 27 European countries and North America*. 5GB are available for music and photography, so if the memory of your digital camera is full you can easily transfer the pictures onto the Magellan RoadMate 800. The integrated MP3 player transforms the navigation system into a cool portable jukebox. Files are ordered like on a PC for maximum simplicity.
For street navigation, you can now see the streets in 3D "Birds Eye" map view for an even better understanding of the area in which you are in. The SmartDetourTM function gives you an alternative itinerary when the car slows down while on a highway or road where traffic should be flowing freely. For those of you who want to go to different destinations during the same trip, you will appreciate the route optimisation of the Magellan RoadMate 800. Each driver can save and use again up to 20 different trips and destinations. The route optimisation function will automatically calculate the destinations, the distances and the best itineraries.
A USB connexion allows you to download up to one million personal points of interest like restaurants, shops or friends and family addresses. You can file the points of interest in categories and associate them with an alarm which will ring as you approach the destination.
The Magellan RoadMate 800 also features an automatic night function, meaning that the map display will automatically switch to night or day mode depending on natural light. For added comfort, the volume increases as soon as the vehicle reaches 70 km/h.
The GPS also comes with a lithium-ion battery, an anti-glare screen protector, stereo earphones, a windscreen mount, a cigarette lighter adapter and a USB cable.
