The integrated WiFi Surf & Go is perfect for doing travel related research in the middle of your trip. Do you want to check the ratings on the restaurant up ahead or find your favorite store nearby? Find a hot spot and do your research while relaxing with a hot cup of coffee!

The WiFi is optimized to perform best on travel 'n' review websites which support the "Surf and Save" feature. On these websites, when you find the place you want to go press the address and your navigator either routes you there or saves it to your address book!

With the TourDirector as your personal guide, you will find more than just names and directions. Exclusive to the Magellan GPS for travelers, the TourDirector will help you plan visits to nearby attractions and activities within your time constraints. With details about the restaurant or attraction the TourDirector becomes a personal reference for where you want to go. And with average time spent at each place the TourDirector can help you put together a day or just an afternoon of exploring what is around you!

Landscape mode is great for traveling where you want to see what is around you. Perhaps an interesting landmark catches your eye. The RM5175T-LM for travelers gives you an added option. Just turn the GPS unit on it's side and you now navigate in portrait mode! Now you see what is ahead of you. When you are looking for when the next turn comes up this gives you additional warning! And should you decide to walk with your navigator the portrait mode makes for comfortable holding in your hand.

Keeping your navigator up to date with the latest software is as simple as a touch of the update button. Touch the button while in any WiFi hotspot and your navigator will check for any software or map updates. Software updates can be downloaded right then and there (map updates require connecting to a computer.) In fact, if your garage is in range of your WiFi you can start the software download when you get home and your unit will take care of the rest. When you get in the car the next morning it will be with an updated unit!

Worried about new housing developments and road systems popping up and making your GPS unit inaccurate? Don't be. The Magellen GPS for travelers comes with a lifetime map update feature. Not only do you get the latest road systems but your point of interest list is also updated to keep up with new openings! As Magellan receives applicable map data from our mapping provider you can update your navigator's maps free of charge, up to four times per year. To activate this feature merely load the Content Manager on your computer (free of charge) and hook up your unit. You will be automatically notified of updates on your computer or else you can check at any time via the WiFi update feature!

Magellan pioneered the QuickSpell feature, which is now widely used in the navigation industry. As you type the first few letters of your destination, QuickSpell instantly narrows the search based on your location. This makes it impossible for you to enter in an address that does not exist! It is a great help when you are unsure how to spell the street name.

Do you AAA members recall the huge AAA TourBook which consisted of a wealth of information of details and diamond ratings® of the hotels, restaurants and attractions in the area? Well now your Magellan GPS for travelers has the entire AAA TourBook information for the US and Canada installed and ready to be used. The Magellan exclusive built-in AAA TourBook guide provides ratings and descriptions of AAA approved places to stay, play, dine and more! Additional features include retail locations where you can show your AAA card in their "Show Your Card & Save" program.

Also included are campground reviews, AAA branch offices and approved auto repair locations to help AAA members with their needs!

With the Magellan exclusive OneTouch Favorites Menu find your favorite restaurant, bank, gas station and more in any city with a single touch. Easily create shortcuts to your favorite destinations and previous searches with personalized bookmarks so you can quickly find them anywhere you travel. Just press the icon (which you have programmed) and you bypass address entry and routing method, saving you time! Program in a search for your bank and it will search for the closest branch. Now when you need cash, you don't have to pay those ATM fees! Program your favorite brand of gas and when you are running low, you can go to the station that gives you points on your gas card. Just press your OneTouch Favorites Menu button then press GO and you are on your way!

One of the frustrations of life is getting stuck in traffic. The Magellan GPS for travelers does its part by offering traffic detection service at no cost. By using an FM receiver the navigator gathers up reported traffic incidents and compares them against your route. If you have a delay due to an incident the unit calculates out how much of a delay and sees if there is an alternative route that will get you there faster. The traffic icon will turn red. Touching the traffic icon will give you a description of the event, the delay it will cause, and how much your alternative route will save in time. Then you make the choice to go on the alternative route or stay where you are!

Concurrent with Magellan’s Safety and Security campaign, the Magellan GPS for travelers has a safety feature that displays speed limits on the highways and other major roads. One of the safety features is the display of speed limits on highways and other major roads. Manage your speed along your route with optional settings for visual and audible alerts to help you be a safer driver and possibly avoid a speeding ticket!

When there are streets branching off all over the place you need something more than being told to turn left in 300 yards. Hear street names and directions for a clear understanding of when to make the next turn while you keep your eyes on the road.

Have you ever suddenly been stranded on the side of the road? Most of us have! The Magellan GPS for travelers has a feature for all you AAA members, to make those unfortunate incidents less stressful and easier to handle. When your car breaks down, just tap the "Where Am I?" icon through the OneTouch Favorites Menu, to be able to tell the tow truck driver or emergency crew where to find you. Your navigator will also tell you how far you are from the next and previous exits!

As an added bonus you can enter your AAA membership number into your navigator to see the AAA help line number. No more looking through your purse, wallet, or glove box for that number. Now you know where to call for help and they know where to find you! Breaking down is stressful but Magellan can help alleviate some of that unnecessary stress.

Few things are as frustrating as missing your exit on the highway because traffic keeps you from getting over. With the Magellan Highway Lane Assist, you get realistic highway signs directing you safely to the correct lane, long before your exit or interchange. Each lane gets an arrow; if the arrow is white then that is the lane you need to be in, if its grey then you need to make your way to a white arrowed lane!
