Magellan SmartGPS Eco V2.0 Cloud and Content Services for Connected Car Now Available
Complete Content Aggregation and Personalization Platform to Be Demonstrated at Telematics Detroit 2014
– Santa Clara – Magellan, a leader of innovative GPS devices and content services for vehicles, fitness, outdoor and mobile navigation, has announced that its SmartGPS Eco V2.0 cloud technology for Automotive OEM and Tier 1 customers is now available. Magellan will demonstrate the SmartGPS Eco platform at Telematics Detroit on June 4-5.
The SmartGPS Eco V2.0 is the latest advancement in Magellan's cloud based content services that delivers money saving content, keeps drivers informed with relevant location and social content, and provides safer navigation. New features include an expanded portfolio of leading content partners, easy drag and drop content manager for end-users, and updated companion iOS and Android apps.
Built on a robust architecture supporting content aggregation, personalization and localized delivery, the Magellan SmartGPS Eco V2.0 is designed to integrate with connected car solutions requiring real time, personalized local content.
The SmartGPS Eco V2.0 is available to Automotive OEM and Tier 1 customers, fleet operators, and rental car companies. As one of the original pioneers in the personal navigation industry, Magellan believes engineering cloud products with location relevance for automotive OEM's is a logical evolution.

In addition to planning trips and saving favorite locations, Magellan's SmartGPS Eco content manager now enables customers to select the content they want to receive. This personal, local information is delivered automatically, and includes valuable content from leading partners such as restaurant reviews and deals from Yelp and Foursquare, Redbox movies and locations and iHeartRadio Internet radio. In addition, where to find the lowest gas prices from preferred stations, IP traffic, 5 day weather forecast, severe weather alerts & map overlays, and much more are available.
SmartGPS Eco also adds easy location searches, which can then be saved in the customer's content manager account, and delivered in-car via wifi or Bluetooth connections.
The first commercial implementation of Magellan's SmartGPS Eco, the SmartGPS 5295 consumer device, was named a CES 2013 Innovations Award Honoree, and launched in consumer retail in spring of 2013. The second consumer device, the SmartGPS 5390 is now available at HSN and BestBuy.com.
