Magellan® RoadMateTM 2200T and 2250T Now Available in Europe

The new Magellan RoadMate 2200T series offers a rugged, versatile, and powerful combination in a pocket-size design

METS -- Amsterdam, The Netherlands   (November 14, 2006) Magellan, creators of the Hertz® NeverLost® and a leading global innovator of outdoor and vehicle navigation solutions, announced today the introduction of the Magellan RoadMate 2200T series of small, powerful and affordable portable vehicle navigation devices to the European market. The series includes the Magellan RoadMate 2200T and the Magellan RoadMate 2250T, the world's first rugged, IPX-4-waterproof car navigation system that can be upgraded to provide off-road navigation and real-time traffic capabilities. Measuring 12.5 x 8.5 x 2.6 centimeters with an integrated battery and antenna, both devices are equipped with voice and visual turn-by-turn guidance with a 3.5 inch color touch-screen display for easy viewing of the 3-D birds-eye map screen.

"The new Magellan RoadMate 2200 series offer small and easy-to-use devices that are still powerful and even rugged," Said Philippe Durand, director of sales and marketing for Magellan Europe. He adds: "The Magellan RoadMate 2200T and 2250T not only offer high quality car navigation performance but also the marine/ topographic maps, to take users from door-to-door in a car - and from point-to-point where the road ends."

Cross Over from the Road to the Outdoors Without Getting Lost

Vehicle Navigation: the Magellan 2200 series offer voice-and text-prompted turn-by-turn driving directions with pre-loaded street-level maps of European regions base on 2006 NavteQ data, along with a searchable directory of almost 1 million points of interest to easily find local restaurants, lodging and more.

The Magellan 2200 series features fee-free SmartDetourTM to help drivers route around motorway traffic; SayWhereTM directions with audible street names for extra driving confidence; and optimized multi-destination routing for the quickest and most efficient routes when making several stops. The system also provides a MP3 player and photo viewer for added entertainment value as a travel companion. It also provides optional access to real-time traffic updates and rerouting capabilities to avoid delays and get to their destination faster.

"T" stands for Traffic
The Magellan TrafficKitTM receiver processes real-time traffic information and displays icons on the Magellan RoadMate map screen to show traffic jams and conditions that impede the normal flow of traffic, such as lane reductions, road construction and accidents. Drivers can choose to see all or specific types of incidents, and can learn details about each by touching the associated icon on the screen. Drivers can also choose to automatically be rerouted around traffic or to receive traffic alerts for information only.

SayWhere and real-time traffic services for the Magellan RoadMate 2200T and 2250T will be available in Europe during the first quarter 2007.

Outdoor Navigation with the CrossoverGPS kit: The waterproof designed Magellan RoadMate 2200T pioneers the concept of Cross Over with easy upgrade options to add outdoor navigation capabilities for hiking, off-road excursions and marine activities. The CrossoverGPS kit enables the Magellan RoadMate 2200T to be compatible with optional MapSend Topo maps and Navionics based MapSend BlueNav XL3 marine charts, both ready to use on SD Cards.

The outdoor navigation functionality provides guidance using GPS coordinates for geographical locations, such as the latitude and longitude of a starting point and a desired destination. Other convenient features, like the compass screen and the ability to save a base camp location, make the Magellan 2200 series easy to use even for novice navigators. The integrated battery lasts up to eight hours for extended cord-free operation during outdoor activities.

The Magellan RoadMate 2200T, with regional maps, will be available in selected European countries (France, Italy, Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark) on December 1st 2006 for less than €300. It will be available in all other European countries during the first quarter 2007.

The Magellan RoadMate 2250T, with full European map, will be available in Europe during the first quarter of 2007 for less than €350. The full Europe map includes England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Andorra, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, the Vatican and San Marino.
