Magellan® MapSend® BlueNavTM XL3: a complete mapping solution for sailing and boating enthusiasts

Detailed marine maps for handheld GPS

London   (November 15, 2005) Magellan has launched MapSend BlueNav XL3, a new mapping solution for inshore saltwater and major navigable inland waterways in Europe. Entirely based on Navionics Gold XL3 marine charts, MapSend BlueNav XL3 gives detailed marine navigation data, information about tides, currents, depth contours, spot soundings, harbour plans and services. MapSend BlueNav XL3 covers European waters in 20 wide-area charts, which are each pre-configured on a secure digital memory card for immediate use. Magellan MapSend BlueNav XL3 Europe SD cards are available from mid-November for £225 ( 329 Euros). .

MapSend BlueNav XL3 makes it easier for everyone, from kayakers to yachtsmen - to make the most of their precious time on the water, especially when used with the Magellan eXploristTM XL, which boasts a large color screen ideal for marine applications. The extensive navigation aids help you confidently explore new waters, and can also help mariners avoid shipping lanes, obstructions, and restricted areas. MapSend BlueNav XL3 is easy to use - simply insert the SD card directly into the GPS and activate the detailed chart you wish to use. European charts include the Mediterranean, the Atlantic coasts, Scandinavia, the UK and Iceland. It also covers many major inland waters in Central Europe and Finland. MapSend BlueNav is ideal for those who cartop or trailer their boat to different places during the year, such as Lake Constance or the Bretagne in the summer and the Adriatic in the Spring. People like that can use their GPS with MapSend DirectRoute to drive to the next boating destination, then switch to BlueNav to enjoy the water.

"MapSend Blue Nav XL3 offers a wealth of useful map information such as where to find moorings, supplies, and services, as well as showing where there are wrecks, shoals and other structures beneath the surface," said John Parrott, Product Manager for Content and Mapping. "This is a huge benefit, especially to small boaters, who use BlueNav to efficiently make their way between the docks and the place they wish to fish, dive, or explore."

Magellan MapSend BlueNav XL3 is based on highly esteemed Navionics Gold XL3 charts, which offer about 3 times the coverage of XL charts. They offer outstanding value in coverage and detail for the price paid. This solution is compatible with the Magellan eXplorist 400, 500, 600 and XL, as well as Magellan Meridian® series GPS receivers.
