Markus Bregler Appointed New Director of Thales Navigation Consumer Sales and Marketing in Europe
Santa Clara, Calif. (June 18, 2004) Thales Navigation, global leader in positioning and navigation solutions, including the Magellan® consumer line of GPS solutions, has appointed a new Director of Consumer Sales and Marketing for the European, Middle East and Africa regions, Markus Bregler. Bregler will position Magellan® as the leading brand for car navigation in the European market, as well as extending the Magellan product lines in the outdoor and marine markets.
Bregler, 45, who was previously employed by PalmOne and oversaw the introduction and success of PalmOne's handheld line from the start, is now responsible for the European sales and marketing activities of the entire Magellan product line, including the portable navigation system, Magellan RoadMateTM, launched in March 2004.
"Thales Navigation has set the goal of following up its success in the American market by becoming the number one provider in the market for car navigation systems in Europe. With the Magellan RoadMate - a high-quality portable navigation GPS device that is easy to use - we are in the best possible position to do this," said Bregler.
With more than twenty years experience in Sales and Marketing in IT companies, Markus Bregler is well equipped for his task at Thales Navigation. At Apple, Bregler worked on the launch of the Newton handheld range and later, as Channel Development Manager, was in charge of the range throughout the German-speaking region. In 1997 Markus Bregler moved to Palm and was in charge of business development and marketing for handhelds. In 2000 he took on the post of Director Central and Eastern Europe and from 2001 was responsible for EMEA countries at PalmOne, where the company was able to significantly increase its market share and extend its market-leading position under his leadership in spite of stagnating growth within the industry and increasing competition.
